The University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided to increase the number of students admitted to medical faculties in government universities.
Its chairman Prof. Sampath Amaratunga said that the number would be increased to 369.
He said that space will be reserved for that based on the results of the 2019 GCE Advanced Level examination.
In addition to the Medical Faculty, the number of students enrolled in the Faculties of Engineering, Science, Agriculture, Arts and Computer Technology will also be increased.
Chairman Prof. Sampath Amaratunga further stated that the number of students admitted to the faculties is expected to be announced in the future.
