COLOMBO: A chain of peaceful demonstrations were staged by people in many places in the north and east of the island on Wednesday to protest against forced cremation on Covid infected remains held on Wednesday.
The campaign was to claim for minority religious rights and to end forced cremation on forced cremations.
The protests were held in Muttur, Kinniya, Jaffna, Trincomalee, Vavuniya, Mannar, Killinocchi, Sainthamaruthu, Ampara and Kayts.
