University bans 2nd year engineering students

he administration of the Peradeniya University yesterday (16th) decided to make the university a no-go zone for the second year students of the Faculty of Engineering following complaints regarding a number of incidents of torture.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, Prof. Upul Dissanayake said that the decision was taken on the recommendation of the Faculty Advisory Council, following complaints from several parents of first year students that second year students at the Faculty of Engineering were being tortured.

He said that only the second year academic activities of the Faculty of Engineering will be suspended and the academic activities of the other faculties will continue as usual.
